Bahrain issues new system for building permits

MANAMA, October 31, 2018

Bahrain’s HRH Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, launched Benayat, a new process for issuing building permits within five days, during the Government Forum 2018, a media report said.

In a statement, the Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister, Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf, highlighted that Benayat represents a new milestone in streamlining processes associated with issuing building permits, reported Bahrain News Agency (BNA).

He emphasised the role that Benayat plays in encouraging investments and facilitating opportunities within the real estate sector, adding that this new efficiency-focused system is one of a series of initiatives led by the Executive Committee to meet key objectives within Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 and continue to drive innovation within government services.

He also spoke of the range of mechanisms introduced as part of Benayat, noting that the seamless workflow integrates over 14 entities to regulate and monitor the process, while private sector partners carry out different procedures, including an initial review of submissions to ensure requirements are fully met.

He concluded by emphasising that Benayat serves as a demonstration for the government’s firm commitment to transform the role of the private sector into the main engine of growth, fostering opportunities for citizens and accelerating sustainable development.
