DUBAI, October 7, 2019

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) is highlighting its latest smart services, customer services and innovative digital technologies in the utility sector at the ongoing Gitex Technology Week 2019.

It will also demonstrate its key initiatives that use artificial intelligence (AI) and disruptive technologies to enhance the experience of its customers, partners, employees, and other stakeholders.

Dewa will be a part of the pavilion of Smart Dubai Government Establishment, the technology arm of Smart Dubai Office, at the event being held at Dubai World Trade Centre until October 10.

Dewa CEO and managing director Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer said: "Gitex is an important opportunity to highlight Dewa’s AI applications and its smart and innovative solutions. These are part of our strategy to support the Smart Dubai initiative, which aims to make Dubai into the world's smartest and happiest city."

"This is also part of our efforts to contribute to transforming Dubai into a global centre for disruptive technologies and to keep pace with the Fourth Industrial Revolution. These also contribute to achieving national strategies, including the UAE Centennial 2071, the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2031, the UAE Strategy for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the Dubai Plan 2021, which aims to make Dubai proactive and creative in meeting the needs of individuals and society as a whole, and the Dubai Paperless Strategy, which aims to build an integrated paperless government framework by 2021," stated Al Tayer.

"Dewa will disrupt the entire business of public utilities by becoming the world’s first digital utility to use autonomous systems for renewable energy and storage. At the same time, we are expanding our use of AI and digital services," he added.

Marwan bin Haidar, executive vice-president (Innovation & The Future) said Dewa’s participation in Gitex is an excellent opportunity to exchange best practices and expertise in digital transformation.

"The exhibition is a key platform that brings together experts, specialists, solution providers, investors, government decision makers, and prospective business partners in all areas of the Fourth Industrial Revolution," stated bin Haidar.

"This supports the directives of the wise leadership to make Dubai the smartest and happiest city in the world by providing the necessary infrastructure in shaping the future," he added.

Bin Haidar pointed out that through its participation, Dewa aims to highlight its smart programmes and initiatives to make customers happier.

"These include the Manarati Smart Pole Initiative, which features  innovative applications including charging electric vehicles, interactive screens, smart environmental sensors, and Internet access; Smart Response service, which includes several features such as early self-diagnosis of electricity and water interruptions to reduce the necessary steps to deal with complaints by following up and solving them through Dewa’s smart app and website; Dewa Store on its smart app, which provides exclusive offers and discounts in cooperation with a number of public and private sector companies; Rammas, Dewa’s virtual employee that answers customer queries, both in Arabic and English on Facebook, Amazon's Alexa, Google Assistant, robots, and Dewa’s WhatsApp," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
