Saudi non-oil exports surge to $2.5 billion

Saudi Arabia's non-oil exports rose to 9.6 billion riyals ($2.56 billion) in April, up eight per cent from the previous year, according to official data.

Saudi non-oil exports stood at 8.9 billion riyals at the end of April, 2009, the Central Departments of Statistics and Information (CDSI) said on its website on Saturday.

Plastics and petrochemicals were the main non-oil exported products during April, amounting to 5.8 billion riyals, it said.

GCC countries were the main importers of Saudi's non-oil products, importing 27 per cent of Saudi's non-oil exports, or SR2.6 billion.

The UAE imported the most, buying non-oil exports worth around SR1.13 billion, followed by China which imported products worth SR776 million.-Reuters
