BP lecture grooms Qatar students

Doha, March 23, 2008

BP Alaska well expert Joe Anders recently delivered a lecture on ‘Well Integrity & Well Failure” to the petroleum engineering students at Texas A&M University in Doha.

The BP lecture for the second, third and fourth-year students, was part of the company’s long-established commitment to education and fostering the employees and leaders of tomorrow.

These lectures give BP the chance to share valuable real-life experiences and groom youngsters for an important, exciting and rewarding career in oil and gas sector.

'The visit by one of BP’s leading Well project engineers is part of the company’s commitment to migrate knowledge from its international operations to the Middle East through information sharing and transferring technical expertise.

Anders informed the students about BP’s success with Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) techniques that are significantly increasing the yield from BP’s oil and gas fields around the world.

BP’s Prudhoe Bay field in Alaska which, given it’s characteristics, would normally yield a ‘standard’ recovery of less than 40 per cent, of in-place reserves, is set for a recovery rate of around 65 per cent thanks to the deployment of EOR technology.
