28 complete LGE training course

Amman, June 18, 2008

Twenty eight students have successfully completed the LGE Al Asalah Academy’s, three-month innovative training programme.

The programme provides youth with vocational "soft and hard skills" training courses. These courses are guaranteed to place them in jobs relevant to the air conditioning maintenance field.

It is a set plan to train a total of 100 youth aged 18 to 21, and is made possible by the support of the US Department of State's Office of The Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI). It came into effect on the heals of the agreement signed between Al Asalah Academy and Jordan Career Educational Foundation (JCF) last year.

Under the patronage of Mayor of Amman Omar Maani the graduation ceremony was held at Al Hussein Cultural Centre. Attendees included general manager of LG Electronics Amman office Kevin Cha, general manager of Al Asalah Electromechanics,   LGE’s exclusive agent for Commercial Air Conditioning systems in Jordan, Issam Samara, and representatives of the local media.

Statistics have it that university graduates constitute the highest per centage of unemployed youth in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) countries. The educational marketplace is skewed toward university graduates, rather than in-demand vocational technicians.

In a fast-changing technological world, teaching without reference to what businesses need, obsolete knowledge and out-of-date curricula, graduates will fail to meet the basic needs of employers. Hence Al Asalah is meeting an escalating demand on a vocational cadre in air conditioning systems in Jordan and the region.

LGE Al Asalah Pioneers Academy was launched in December 2006. LGE is giving its support to the academy by providing training curriculums for engineers and technicians in the fields of temperature control.

The academy is offering technical training in fields relevant to the operating of central air conditioning systems, their maintenance, their assembling, and the raising of their productivity. – TradeArabia News Service
