Dubai, May 25, 2010

United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) has been chosen by the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI) to be only the second overseas venue for its examinations.

The examinations, which took take place in UAEU’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, follow an MOU signed between the two leading institutions in 2008. The Faculty of Occupational Medicine, RCPI has Licentiates, Members and Fellows all around the world which is why the assessments are being held abroad as well as in Dublin.

The examinations took place at UAEU’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences recently.

“We are delighted to be partnering with UAEU where the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is undoubtedly one of the leading medical research centres in the GCC and wider region. This expertise, combined with the obvious geographic benefit of the UAE, makes UAEU the ideal centre for our Middle East examinations,” said Dr John Donohoe, president of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland.

“It is an enormous privilege for us to welcome the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland to the UAE. The RCPI has a long and distinguished history of ensuring the highest standards in vital areas of medical practice. As the leading medical research body in the region we are honoured to be partnering with this distinguished body,” added Dr Rory Hume, Provost of UAEU.-TradeArabia News Service
