Qatar Petroleum opens safety academy

Qatar Petroleum (QP) has announced the launch of its new hitech college dedicated to emergency and safety professions at Ras Laffan Industrial City.

The Ras Laffan Emergency & Safety College will be officially inaugurated by Qatar Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al-Thani today.

Located on a 1 million sq m plot in Ras Laffan, the new academy, developed in partnership with the Ministry of Interior, features the best-in-class facilities and uses latest props from aircraft and marine vessel to residential and industrial facilities, said a statement from QP.

A premier emergency and safety training college, RLESC is designed to serve a variety of sectors in Qatar as well as the greater Middle East, North Africa and Asia.

The academy offers a large selection of educational options comprising vocational training courses and academic programs, as students can enrol in fire safety management or fire safety engineering diploma and degree programs, said the statement.

Plans for the future include degrees in safety, environment, occupational health, business continuity, incident management and other related fields, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
