Alba programme to train Bahrainis

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) has announced the latest batch of its Training & Development Programme (TDP), a key initiative to select and train nationals in various fields for positions in middle and senior level management.

A total of 46 employees from various departments have been selected for the TDP and upon completion, will be given higher responsibilities and important management positions such as supervisor, engineer, head, superintendent, manager, etc.

To complement this initiative, Alba is sponsoring the advanced education of employees with potential to succeed at higher responsibilities. A total of 31 Bahrainis are presently under sponsored academic qualification programmes such as ND, HND, BS, MBA and PhD with universities in Bahrain as well as overseas.

“We are proud to say that our employees – 87 per cent of which are Bahrainis - have been instrumental in strengthening Alba's position as one of the world’s largest single-site smelters,” said Alba's chief executive officer Tim Murray.

“TDP is one of our major initiatives to support Bahrainisation and empower the nationals with necessary skills to qualify for high quality jobs, boost their calibre as professionals and provide ample opportunities for career advancement. It also underlines the confidence of our Bahraini workforce to compete and perform at an international level."

The employees are selected on the basis of their knowledge and skills, initiatives shown in the line of duty, and demonstrated potential for growth. – TradeArabia News Service
