India in deal to provide media training for Bahrainis

MANAMA, December 23, 2014

India could soon provide media training for Bahrainis after the kingdom’s Cabinet yesterday (December 22) approved the signing of an agreement between the two countries' information ministries.

Information Affairs Minister and official government spokesman Isa Al Hammadi said Bahrainis would get a chance to learn from India's experience in motion picture production, advance technology and publication, reported the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

“We will learn from India how to develop our media sector,” he said during a media briefing at Gudaibiya Palace following the Cabinet's weekly session.

“The Indian media sector has already reached an advanced stage especially in motion pictures.

“India is also a world leader in modern media technology and we will try to utilise this to the highest level possible.

“The agreement is leverage for us - we will learn from their expertise with training opportunities open to Bahrainis amongst other joint programmes and activities.”

Meanwhile, Bahrain is also set to sign an agreement with Morocco to ease the movement of labour, Al Hammadi said.

“It will also open channels for the workforce to learn from each other in labour aspects,” he said.

Al Hammadi said the Cabinet had been briefed by Labour Minister Jameel Humaidan on labour indicators showing a 2.2 per cent increase in Bahrainis and 1.2 per cent increase in foreign workers in the labour market.

“Bahrain has also allowed the free transfer of 10,647 foreigners within jobs,” said Al Hammadi.

“The government is keen on creating jobs for Bahrainis, with the unemployment rate currently at 3.6 per cent and decreasing due to the numerous vocational and specific training programmes that are being introduced.” - TradeArabia News Service
