Bahrain launches online employment service

MANAMA, April 15, 2015

Bahrain has launched an online employment service to reach out to job-seekers and streamline recruitment.

Labour Ministry Under-Secretary Sabah Salim Al Dosary yesterday (April 14) inaugurated the e-recruitment service which will fast-track training and employment of Bahraini job-seekers, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

“The new cyber employment services will hopefully reduce the time allocated for recruitment procedures by 80 per cent,” he said.

The cyber recruitment initiative is the first step in a wide-ranging strategy which will enable the Labour Ministry to go hi-tech and get rid of paper work ultimately.

The ministry yesterday started processing applications submitted online to employ Bahraini job-seekers in the private sector.

Once the work contracts are verified and approved, the ministry will start paying the financial allowances under a programme that aims to improve salaries of Bahrainis in the private sector.

Labour inspectors will also use the online database to scrutinise recruitment procedures until work contracts are approved to ensure compliance and give the green light to pay the allowances.

The ministry urged private companies to confirm the employment of Bahraini workers on www.bahrain.bh for allowances to be paid. - TradeArabia News Service
