DUBAI, November 19, 2015

The Clarion School is set to launch in September next year, with demand for quality education in Dubai at an all-time high and heeding the call from KHDA to invest in delivering high standards of education to support UAE Vision 2021.

Developed by Scholars International Group (SIG), in collaboration with the Bank Street College of Education, Clarion School is first to affiliate with a renowned US education partner in Dubai, said a statement.

The Bank Street College of Education, celebrating its 100-year anniversary, has had a profound impact on American education over the last century and played a prominent role in US educational policies and practice on how children learn.

SIG has been a leading education provider in the region for the last 40 years and founder of two established schools of note in the region.

The Clarion School approach to education is based on the progressive education model, employing constructivist, experiential, and place based learning.

Shael Polakow, Suransky, president of Bank Street College of Education, said: “We are pleased that SIG asked Bank Street College of Education to partner with developing the new Clarion School in Dubai. As part of the affiliation, we are committed to supporting the planning, faculty recruitment, curriculum and on-going professional development of this school, and are confident that the Bank Street-prepared educators teaching at the Clarion School will provide the expertise and values that reflect our distinctive approach to teaching and learning.

"We look forward to exploring learning opportunities that will further benefit students and faculty of Clarion and Bank Street."

The new Clarion school will offer classes starting from pre-kindergarten to grade two in the first year, with upper classes to follow in the second year, and will be staffed with highly qualified educators, who will hold Master’s Degrees, a unique feature of the school.

In collaboration with Bank Street College of Education, Clarion School’s rigorous academic programme will offer a clear and effective pathway for students to transition into top US colleges on graduation.

The school will be led by Dr Kandance Williams, the newly appointed superintendent, who has a wealth of experience in the industry has taught students across the US and internationally.

Speaking on the partnership with Bank Street College of Education, Dr Williams, said: “We are excited to announce the launch of Clarion School which will set a new standard of US education in the UAE, thanks to our partnership with Bank Street College of Education.

"The institution’s internationally recognised position as a leader in education and pioneering approach to improving the quality of classroom education and teacher preparation allow us to offer students a premier American curriculum while offering discerning parents a trusted investment in their children’s future.”

With Bank Street College of Education curriculum expertise in the use of a social study as a core lens for integrated learning, Clarion School will offer students opportunities to engage directly in the unique environments in Dubai and return to their classrooms to make meaning from their experiences with rich materials and a program of deep inquiry, said the statement.
