VPS, Penn to host diagnostic radiology summit

ABU DHABI, UAE, May 16, 2016

VPS Healthcare and Penn Medicine are set to host a conference on International Diagnostic Radiology and Medical Lab in Abu Dhabi later this month.

VPS Healthcare is one of the largest healthcare conglomerates in the region while Penn Medicine ranks amongst the top 10 healthcare systems in the US.

The two day conference will start on May 19, and be held at the Rosewood Hotel at the core of Abu Dhabi’s new Central Business District.

The theme of the conference is to integrate precision diagnostics into clinical care, which would enable the attendees to gain insights into future laboratory practices, review of current technologies, learn new techniques and the formulation of ideas for further development in the these fields.

Speaking about the importance of diagnostic imaging and medical lab, Dr Shamsheer Vayalil, managing director of VPS Healthcare and president of the conference, said: “The programme includes highlighting of new and innovative procedures, high level scientific content with major updates, developments within the broader topics and related fields. These interactive and impactful presentations will in turn facilitate our audience in acquiring in-depth understanding to enable their most effective utilisation.”

A lot of thought has been put in towards developing the scientific agenda for the conference to provide a unique learning experience for the attendees.

“The conference has many national and international renowned doctors and researchers dedicated to their fields of radiology and laboratory sciences imparting the art, techniques, and know-how about their specialties,” said Dr Afrozul Haq, principal scientist at VPS Healthcare and chairman of the scientific committee of the conference.

There are going to be a total of six speakers from Penn Medicine including Dr David Roth, chair of pathology and laboratory medicine and director of the Penn Center for Precision Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, Perelman School of Medicine.

Dr Roth, Dr Mitchell Schnall, Dr Kojo Elenitoba-Johnson and their colleagues work on accelerating the implementation of precision medicine into routine health system operations and measure of their impact.

The event is expected to connect leaders, decision makers, doctors, scientists, technologists, public servants, academics, and students to enhance the awareness, quality and safety practices to understand the critical role diagnostics and medicine lab play in healthcare and how best to bring it to fruition in policy and practice for government and private sector, said a press release.

Alongside the conference, there will be an exhibition comprising of international companies that will be showcasing most cutting-edge technologies and the latest innovations in the fields of radiology, pharmaceuticals and medical lab technology and treatment solutions. –TradeArabia News Service
