Dubai, October 4, 2010

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) and Dubai Biotechnology and Research Park (DuBiotech), the region’s major life sciences park, have discussed the possibility of cooperation to develop the life sciences sector in the region.

The discussion took place during the visit of Dr Saleh A Bawazir, vice-president of SFDA to DuBiotech.

Dr Bawazir was received by DuBiotech’s  director of business development, Marwan Abdulaziz.

Dr Bawazeir also toured the new state-of-the art DuBiotech laboratory complex, visiting the facilities of the National Reference Laboratory, Firmenich and Maquet based there.

Marwan Abdulaziz said: “The visit by Dr Bawazir reiterates the importance of bilateral relations between the Saudi FDA and DuBiotech, which is helping create a strong life sciences industry in the Middle East.

“DuBiotech continues to attract international interest from both commercial and public sectors, and the 70 companies that have already chosen the free zone as their home are a testament to its vision of becoming a global leader in the life sciences and biotechnology industries.”

Spread over 22 million sq ft, DuBiotech has invested in infrastructure to offer specially tailored facilities that meet all life sciences industry requirements.  –TradeArabia News Service
