NBAD backs Emiratis on Antarctica trip
Abu Dhabi, March 6, 2014
For the third year running, the National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) is sponsoring UAE national employees to join the “2041 International Antarctica Expedition”, as part of its commitment to promote leadership skills and environmental responsibility.
The two NBAD explorers will join this month the annual voyage to the Frozen Continent as members of the “2041 International Antarctica Expedition,” a movement that annually organises trips to Antarctica to highlight the effects of global warming and to ensure the continued protection of Antarctica from mining and exploitation beyond year 2041, when the current international agreement ends.
The NBAD explorers are Raisa Al Malki, Sheikh Zayed Road branch manager and Tariq Lari, head of Customer Service at NBAD Securities. Raisa and Tariq will join the other explorers from around the world in Ushuaia, Argentina.
The journey by ship to southern most continent begins March 8 and ends March 21.
“Our people are the future leaders of NBAD and by providing them with powerful learning tools and opportunities they will be able to make better business choices and have a positive impact,” said Ehab Hassan, Group chief human resources officer & senior managing director at NBAD.
“This expedition is a perfect platform to share knowledge and experience in areas of leadership and corporate sustainability. We are pleased to sponsor our staff for the third time in their journey to positive change.”
The explorers will experience the wildlife of the Frozen Continent, live and breathe a sustainable lifestyle, and learn about the importance of preserving natural resources and the role of renewable energy in balancing the ecosystem.
In addition to environmental knowledge and sustainable practices, the expedition is designed to develop personal and leadership skills.
“We look forward to welcoming Raisa and Tariq on their return, and together with our former ambassadors, bringing their experiences and learning to life through a community awareness programme,” said Belinda Scott, senior manager of Corporate Sustainability at NBAD. – TradeArabia News Service
