DHA showcases new services at Gitex Dubai

DUBAI, October 22, 2015

Dubai Health Authority (DHA) took part at the Gitex Technology Week, which concluded in Dubai, UAE.

Humaid Al Qatami, chairman of the board and director-general of DHA, said that the aim of all the new smart services that will be launched shortly after Gitex 2015, is to empower patients so that they can access their information and medical services online at any time that is convenient to them.

From a point of view of healthcare professionals and health management, Al Qatami said that the introduction of such services directly helps in better management of health services and leads to improved patient outcomes.

The DHA launched self-health automated assessment chairs which will be available to all customers in DHA’s primary healthcare centres, said a statement.

The sleek white chairs will be easy to use and customers can screen themselves and get reports within six minutes, it said.

The chair uses non-invasive, near infra-red technology and screening results include body weight, body mass index, body fat including amount of essential, excess and reserved fat a person has, body composition, blood pressure, blood circulation, hydration level, basic metabolic rate, heart rate,  mental and physical levels of stress and overall stress and fatigue resistance.

The DHA also launched four new apps at Gitex, which included Hayati, an app for diabetics; Tifli (my baby), an app for pregnant women; Tashkees, to provide the community with medical articles and smart mazad, which is smart bidding app.

The new apps will be available by the end of November this year.

DHA has also updated its existing apps – Sehaty and Dubai Doctors- and has added several new features for the convenience of app users.

The apps are now compatible with Apple Watch and users can access several app features on Apple Watch after syncing the two.

Malafati (My Health Services) kiosks to be launched at DHA hospitals and public places will include a smart self-help kiosk known as  ‘Malafati’, which means, ‘my files’ in Arabic.

The kiosks will help save time of patients and reduce waiting lines at DHA hospitals and primary healthcare centres.

The first kiosk will be set up at Latifa Hospital. In the next phase, DHA will set up these kiosks across the other DHA hospitals and then will extend this service to shopping malls and other public places, said the statement.

DHA also displayed the Dubai RoboDoc which is the latest innovation that will allow doctors to evaluate patients remotely and provide immediate intervention, it added. - TradeArabia News Service
