Healthpoint wins US ECRI accreditation

ABU DHABI, September 18, 2017

Healthpoint, a multi-specialty hospital in Abu Dhabi, UAE has become the first hospital in the UAE to be awarded the ‘Certificate for Best Practice in Patient Safety’, after achieving an accreditation from the Emergency Care Research Institute (ECRI).

The facility has been recognized for developing and implementing a solid infrastructure, to ensure the highest standards of medical safety and patient care across all its clinical practices.

ECRI is an internationally recognized non-profit organization that develops and administers accreditation programs to ensure hospitals reach the desired quality of care and patient safety goals, through responsible use of medical equipment. Carrying out its mission with a strong sense of responsibility, ECRI has implemented a stringent review process to ensure healthcare facilities are safeguarding the highest standards of medical safety.

“This is a proud moment for us, as we have worked tirelessly for the past three years to provide our patients with the best quality of care. Our medical team has done a great job at ensuring our equipment is used in the safest and most effective way across all practices”, said Amr Abouelella, head of the Biomedical Engineering Department at Healthpoint.

“Some of our patients have had to travel great distances and incur significant expense to access specialty medical care. They can rest assured that they are able to receive that care right here at Healthpoint, surrounded by their families and other local support systems.”

Before officially being awarded the certification, the healthcare facility was subject to a thorough, three-day investigation of policies, practices, and maintenance of medical equipment, measured against international benchmarks. The Biomedical Engineering department was evaluated for its existing process of assessment and mitigation in case of a hazard.

“Not only does the accreditation ensure we are aligned with international standards, but also helps us look at new ways to improve,” Abouelella added.

Healthpoint has been recognized for its exceptional quality of patient care, having recently been awarded the Gold Seal of Approval by the Joint Commission International (JCI) - the world’s largest healthcare accreditor, for its superior standards in full-cycle healthcare and patient safety. The hospital was also a rewarded international accreditation for bariatric and metabolic surgery, by the American Surgical Review Corporation (SRC), in April 2017. – TradeArabia News Service
