University Hospital Sharjah names new CEO

University Hospital Sharjah (UHS), the leading healthcare provider in the emirate, has announced the appointment of Dr Ali Obaid Al Ali as its new CEO effective immediately.

Dr Ali Obaid Al Ali will be responsible for overall control, strategic direction, operational planning and management of the hospital with immediate effect, a statement said.

Abdulla Ali Al Mahyan, chairman of Board of Trustees for UHS, said: “We are particularly pleased to have Dr Ali Obaid Al Ali at UHS as his expertise in operations and management has made him the ideal CEO to provide a world-class experience and maintain the highest level of care for our patients.”

Dr Ali Obaid Al Ali said: “It is a great honour and a privilege to be named CEO of such a prestigious and recognised hospital. My first priority will be to ensure continuity through the planning and execution of strategy across all of UHS's divisions. The combination of my three decades of experience in the healthcare industry with the visionary approach of UHS will set a new benchmark for this sector in Sharjah and the UAE.”

With 31 years of experience in the healthcare industry, Dr Ali Obaid served as chief medical officer and chief flight surgeon in the UAE Air Force, followed by his role as commander of Zayed Military Hospital. Dr Ali Obaid has also taken on the responsibilities of chief of Medical Affairs, Public Health and International Patient Care.

Ali Obaid Al Ali has worked with Health Authority of Abu Dhabi (HAAD) and played a significant role as director of Health Regulations and International Patient Care. In addition, he was also the chairman of the Medical Board, Disciplinary Committee and Licensing Committee.
