Cegelec is now Quartzelec

Abu Dhabi, November 27, 2007

Rugby-based Cegelec, which has been operating independently since it was acquired from its French parent company in December last year, has been renamed as Quartzelec Ltd.

The new company, one of the largest independent electrical engineering businesses in the UK employing more than 500 people, delivers design, engineering, manufacturing, and installation and maintenance solutions.

Quartzelec has opened an office in Abu Dhabi as it plans to grow its business in the Middle East. There are also plans to gain further business in the Asia-Pacific region.

The name change comes at a time when the company has returned to profitability and is planning to expand its business operations overseas.

“When we became Cegelec in 2001 we were experiencing severe difficulties. But having taken action to stabilise the business we are now seeing the benefits,” said managing director, Daniel Laval.

“We are now a stable and profitable company with a turnover of £50 million,” he added.

He said that Quartzelec now occupies a premium position in the markets in which it operates. “We now have a number of competitive advantages,” said Laval. - Trade Arabia News Service
