Alba inks 3-year billet supply deal with Sapa

Manama, September 15, 2010

Aluminum Bahrain (Alba) and Sapa AB have signed a three-year agreement to supply a significant quantity of extrusion billets to Sapa Profiles group in Europe.

The deal was a result of Alba and Sapa working closely together since the end of 2009 to develop a strong business relationship in supply of extrusion ingots to the Sapa Profiles group.

Sapa is the global leader in its field of operation in the core areas of extruded profiles, building and heat transfer systems. Sapa, which currently operates around 45 plants in Europe, North America and Asia, is regarded as the largest extruder in the world with a global capacity of more then 900,000MT per annum.

“We are delighted to have been selected as part of Sapa’s strategic sourcing program. This further demonstrates Alba’s commitment to be a major player in the global market for high value added products,” stated Alba chief executive Laurent Schmitt.

Alba operates the world’s fourth largest single site smelter with a capacity of 870,000 tonnes per annum. Alba’s state-of-the-art Casthouse 3 is one of the largest extrusion billet facilities in the world with a capacity of over 350,000MT annually.-TradeArabia News Service
