Arab cable group set for major Spain summit

Dubai, July 6, 2011

Leading Arab and international speakers will be attending a four-day conference of the Arab Cable Manufacturers Association (ArabCab) to be held at Granada, Spain in September.

The event, to be organised at the AC Palacio Santa Paula Hotel, will be ArabCab’s seventh annual meeting and the first to be held outside the Arab world, said the association members.

The meeting will be held under the theme, “Renewable energy and its relation to the cable & wire world” from September 25 to 28.

Present will be leading manufacturers of electrical and telephone cables from within and outside the Arab world.

The key speakers lined up for the event include Hamid Al Zayani, the association’s president.

'The conference will bring together market leaders from the Arab world and globally both in the areas of cable manufacturing and renewable energy,' said Al Zayani during a press conference in Manama.

'We are confident it will serve as an important opportunity for engagement and further development and discourse of key topics shaping the industry today and a way forward towards a greener and more efficient future,' he added.

Al Zayani said Spain was chosen for reasons including its long historical relationship with Arab culture and markets as well as its position as a leading centre for the development and use of alternative energy sources.

Spain is home to the Andasol solar power station (100 MW) in Guadix, Andalusia, and Solnova power station (150 MW) in Sanlucar La Mayor, among the largest concentrated solar power plants in the world

Additional details and the list of speakers and participants will be announced later.

ArabCab, established in 2004, is associated with the Arab Federation for Engineering Industries and has more than 65 Arab cable producers as members. - TradeArabia News Service
