26 German firms to exhibit at Dubai aluminium event

DUBAI, March 24, 2015

More than 26 German companies have signed up to showcase aluminium products at a leading aluminium and allied industry event in the Middle East, to take place in Dubai next month.

Aluminium Middle East, organised by Reed Exhibitions Middle East, will run from April 14 to 16 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre and will have the participation of more than 200 exhibitors from 25 countries.

The show is expecting more that 4,000 visitors, a 14 per cent increase over the last edition, which saw around 3,500 visitors, said a statement.

The exhibition, which will be held under the slogan ‘Forging Connections, Building Possibilities,’ will help the region’s aluminium  industry reach a new level of extraordinary growth, it said.

It is the biggest specialised exhibition for the aluminium industry in the region that will bring together manufacturers, producers, investors and service providers under one roof.

Daniyal Qureshi, group exhibition director at Reed Exhibitions Middle East, said: “Europe’s major aluminium market is Germany with about 25 per cent of total aluminium consumption in Europe. Germany exports 40 per cent of aluminium production accounting for about 15 per cent share of the world’s total aluminium exports annually.

“Our exhibition will provide an excellent platform for German companies to network with regional players in various domains, including production, technology transfer and forge business relations for new growth opportunities.”

German aluminium producers and processors recorded a positive performance last year and the primary aluminium production continues to expand, said the statement.

Between January and June last year, about 566,000 tonnes of raw aluminium was produced in Germany.

About 492,400 tonnes of primary aluminum and about 597,400 tonnes of recycled aluminum were produced in Germany in 2013.

Aluminium smelters, semi producers and aluminium foundries have increased their output last year, contributing to a positive economic trend. The use of aluminium will continue to grow in Germany.

The expansion of the electricity grid and the use of renewable sources of energy  further lead to increased demand for aluminium in Germany up to 2020, it said.

Detlef Maiwald, managing director, Innovatherm, a leader in the design, fabrication and supply of firing systems and fume treatment centres for anode baking furnaces, said: “The aluminium market in the Middle East has recorded above average performance and is today the second biggest growing market for aluminium production. As Dubai is the centre of this market with an excellent infrastructure, it is the perfect place for an aluminium trade fair which makes the participation very interesting for Innovatherm.”

Innovatherm supplied over 230 fires on more than 80 different anode baking furnaces worldwide.

In the Middle East, firing systems from Innovatherm are installed and in operation at Alba, Dubal, Emal, Sohar and Ma’aden.

Meanwhile, the UAE is the world's fourth largest aluminium producer, accounting for over 50 per cent of the Gulf's aluminium production.

About nine per cent of total global primary aluminium production will come from the Middle East by 2020.

The worldwide demand for aluminium will continue increasing at an average of 6.5 per cent annually, according to the Aluminium Manufacturers and Producers Association (AMPA). - TradeArabia News Service
