Abu Dhabi Ports, the master developer, operator and manager of ports and industrial zones in Abu Dhabi, celebrated the global ‘Day of the Seafarer’ with as many as 1,000 seafarers.

Every year the day is observed by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) on June 25, to create awareness on the vital role played by seafarers, said a statement from Abu Dhabi Ports.

The employees later distributed commemorative gifts at all ports to mark the occasion.

With focus on building human capital, Abu Dhabi Ports said it has been developing several avenues to further maritime education.

Its training and career development department offers a variety of internationally accredited in-house professional certification courses in ports operation and management, it said.

The Maritime Training Centre in Musaffah offers world class, internationally accredited courses, it added. – TradeArabia News Service
