Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), one of the leading aluminium smelters in the world, has won the ‘Gold Award for Occupational Health and Safety’ in the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2015.
 
Alba’s manager – sales Europe, Boris Santosi received the award on behalf of the company during a ceremony held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel, at the National Exhibition Centre, UK in July, said a statement from the company.
 
The RoSPA Awards recognise commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill health prevention at work. Through the scheme, judges consider participants’ occupational health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

Alba has consistently maintained a high track record of safety, health and environment, and over the years, it has won numerous accolades -- Gulf Aluminium Council’s 2014 Health & Safety Award under the Smelters Category; International Green Apple 2014 Gold award for the Environmental Best Practice; 2014 Occupational Excellence Achievement Award by the National Safety Council – USA and 2013 International Safety Award from the British Safety Council, it added.
