Oman’s PEIE opens local products exhibition

MUSCAT, November 2, 2015

Oman’s Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), celebrating the sultanate’s 45th National Day, has opened an Omani Products’ Exhibition at Al Meera Hypermarket’s Al Athaiba branch.

Similar exhibitions are also being planned at Nesto Hypermarket, Lulu Hypermarket and Carrefour Hypermarket during the course of this month, with the aim to support the continuous cooperation between PEIE and commercial centres in Oman in promoting locally manufactured products, said an Oman Daily Observer report.

The event is being held under the auspices of Dr Hamed bin Said al Aufi, under-secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.

Dr Al Aufi underlined that the exhibitions play an important role in encouraging small and medium enterprises (SMEs), as well as introduce Omani products to consumers.

He added that Omani products are gaining popularity worldwide, in addition to the fact that the government provides a great deal of support to SMEs through Al Raffd Fund.

He further noted that these exhibitions have to be organised annually in all the wilayats of the sultanate.

The Omani Products Exhibitions aim to familiarise citizens and residents alike with the quality of Omani products, as well as to highlight the cost and economic benefits of patronising locally made goods, added the report.
