Bahrain's ME International Trading (MEIT) is showing off a green-friendly system for roofing, waterproofing and air and vapour barrier applications at the Gulf Industry Fair.

Made by US-based Neptune Coatings Corporation, the WetSuit system consists of a range of environment-friendly solutions used throughout the building envelope, says MEIT general manager Robin Walton.

The fluid-applied, seamless membranes are water based, cold applied, have no volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and are Class A self-extinguishing fire rated, he says.

Because WetSuit is so light and offers excellent adhesion to most surfaces, the need to remove existing systems is mostly eliminated, greatly reducing installation costs and environmental impact, Walton points out.

Surface preparation is generally limited to pressure washing the old roof to provide a clean surface for WetSuit to adhere to. Utilising only one applicator, WetSuit can be installed at a fast and efficient rate of 1,500 sq ft per hour, reducing crew size and job time, he adds.

MEIT is also showcasing products from Stahl CraneSystems of Germany at the fair. Stahl has added an innovative sophisticated chain hoist programme to its tried-and-tested classic – the SC chain hoist, says Patrick Muller, business development manager, Stahl CraneSystems.

Also on show is Stahl’s explosion protection systems, which offer the most comprehensive programme of explosion-protected lifting, drive and control technology, says Muller.

An ISO 9001:2008-certified company, MEIT was formed in 2012 with the objective of being a key industrial supply source to local and international engineering and contracting companies. It offers value-added services and product sourcing through a hands-on approach.
