Etisalat offers Neverfail fillip to customers

Dubai, July 26, 2008

Etisalat  has partnered with Neverfail, a leading global software company providing affordable continuous availability and disaster recovery solutions in conjunction with BlackBerry Enterprise Server deployments.

Etisalat business customers are now offered the reassurance that when an IT disaster impacts their organisation’s IT infrastructure, BlackBerry Enterprise Server customers can continue to access business critical information and remain in touch with key contacts via their BlackBerry smartphone.

In today’s business environment access to email while on the move is a key requirement for many organisations.

Losing email access, even for a short time, can have drastic consequences for businesses. In the case of a company’s internal IT system failure, the Etisalat Neverfail High Availability Service provides uninterrupted access to key services so that a company’s employees can continue to send and receive email, browse the web and access information through mobile applications using their BlackBerry smartphone.

The Etisalat Neverfail High Availability Service monitors the health of a company's email and data transfer environment, including the server hardware, the network infrastructure, the application and the operating system.

Neverfail's software continually replicates data that is stored on a company's primary servers onto secondary servers. It then monitors the state of the primary server, so that if any anomalies are identified, Neverfail will immediately take action to prevent loss of service.

It will either automatically attempt to restart applications before they fail, switch over to a secondary server, or alert the IT staff so that no downtime or loss of service is experienced. Once the issue is resolved, they are automatically switched back to the main servers and neither users nor administrators are required to restart their applications.

According to Abdulla Hashim, VP, Enterprise Solutions at Etisalat, "For our enterprise customers, maintaining continuous availability of email access is a critical requirement.

"With this new service, Etisalat now offers our customers a powerful and robust solution to protect critical parts of our customers' IT infrastructure. Neverfail has an enviable reputation for protecting mission-critical systems with its continuous availability solutions.

We have selected them as our preferred provider behind our high availability and disaster recovery services for mobile email systems offered to business customers deploying the BlackBerry Enterprise Server."

Basem Al Kayyali, regional director for Neverfail in the Middle East said: "Etisalat is ushering in a new wave of strategic services to customers in the Middle East.

“We are pleased that Etisalat has selected to work with us to offer high availability protection for mobile access to email and information on BlackBerry smartphones.”

Etisalat offers three monthly packages for BlackBerry smartphones, the Global unlimited at Dh295 ($80), domestic unlimited at Dh185 and domestic limited at Dh130.

Etisalat service for BlackBerry smartphones is provided over Etisalat Mobile network with 100 per cent coverage of UAE populated areas and roaming in 88 countries.
