Motorola launches 2 new smartphones

Dubai, December 20, 2010

Industry giants Motorola and Google  recently launched two new smartphones – Flipout and Defy.

“These two new Smartphones will definitely heat up competition in the market.  Flipout features full Google services including Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail and Google Talk, Google’s answer to instant messaging. The future definitely lies with Android,” said Mahmoud Sayed Ahmed, marketing director, Middle East, Motorola Mobility.

According to Gartner, an information technology and research advisory company, the worldwide mobile operating system (OS) market will be dominated by Symbian and Android, as the two OSs will account for 59.8 per cent of mobile OS sales by 2014.

Android currently ranks second place in leading OS in terms of its market share worldwide. However, Gartner foresees that by the end of the forecast period, the No.1 spot will be contested by Android, which will be at a very similar share level due to mobile device manufacturers revisiting platform strategies and balancing the need to pursue platforms with the highest current demand against the need to maintain differentiation with unique devices.

“What we have now is a mobile platform that meets the ever-changing needs of our mobile customers and through the use of Android, we are able to offer them a more personal, more flexible mobile phone experience,” added Ahmed.-TradeArabia News Service
