Zain takes part in Bahrain e-Gov Forum

Zain Bahrain is taking part as exhibitor at the Bahrain International e-Government Forum 2012 currently being held at The Ritz Carlton, where it is also a platinum sponsor.

The forum, which opened yesterday, is being held under the patronage of Shaikh Mohamed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain and built around the theme ‘Building ICT Foundations for Business Success’. It will come to a close tomorrow.

“The ICT industry is very dynamic and forums like these help to keep up with the pace of change,” said Zain Bahrain’s general manager, Mohammed Zainalabedin, “At Zain Bahrain, we believe in promoting and supporting awareness and knowledge development in the ICT sector.”

“With people everywhere looking at ways to get the maximum impact from their mobile phone networks and with the smartphones which dominate communications today, the ICT sector is definitely the way forward today.”

“At Zain Bahrain, we have worked with the idea that the future will see a massive growth in data and multimedia services and the increased appetite for broadband. The other side of telecom development is emanating from the proliferation of internet applications such as social networking and video and new devices and standard such as data-centric mobile handsets and tablets of the likes of iPad and Android,” Zainalabedin added.

“We are constantly focusing on making our network more ‘future savvy’ – that is, capable of higher-speed data downloads and access to the web and apps which are defining lifestyles and mobile phone usage.”

“Today the most extensive users of ICT are larger businesses and the government, as well as the younger generation of consumers who use it for more personal matters such as university research and studies, social networking,” he added. “We believe that increased globalisation, the development of ICT infrastructure and initiatives such as e-government,  will push up the use of ICT networks and applications and this is bound to reach all segments of the Bahrain society.”

The company joined established names in the information and communication technology sector to showcase its engagement with ICT which is preparing the Zain network to participate in upcoming trends such as e-government initiatives, open data, mobility, applications and social networking.
