Nawras launches HD voice network in Oman

Muscat, March 22, 2014

Nawras, a top telecom provider in Oman and an Ooredoo company, said it has become first in the country to launch high definition (HD) voice capability network.

Nawras customers will be the first in Oman to experience the HD voice technology, providing crystal clear, superior sound quality for calls between mobile phones, said the company in a statement.

The HD Voice network is turned on across the turbocharged network over the whole Muscat and Batinah region and will be rolled out across the entire modernised Nawras network over the coming months, it added.

Wolfgang Wemhoff, the chief technology officer, said: “We are the first operator in Oman and third in the GCC who have adopted this state-of-the-art HD voice network technology. Certified by the GSM Association, Nawras customers can now enjoy amazing clarity on voice calls even in noisy environments, such as near a highway or in a shopping mall."

"This is possible due to the clever way that the technology is able to reduce background sounds and boost the speaker’s voice. It’s a fantastic experience,” noted Wemhoff.

"This great service can be used by most of the actual smartphones from Samsung, BlackBerry, HTC, LG, Nokia and Apple," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
