Muscat, April 7, 2014

Leaders from the ICT industry in Oman and Sweden reached a broad consensus for the broadband sector in the Sultanate to improve its access and enhance the information and communication infrastructure.

The meeting was organized by Swedish Trade and Invest Council and the Embassy of Sweden in Riyadh, in collaboration with the Omani Ministry of Transport and Communication and Ericsson.

The conference was held on the sidelines of the ongoing Comex Oman 2014, a ICT conference and exhibition.

The ICT sector is transforming the way of living and creates new opportunities for development, said a statement.

Sweden and Oman have strong mutual interest in knowledge-sharing, drawing on the similarities in challenges faced when developing their broadband infrastructure, both relating to geographical and population sizes, coverage of rural areas and the targets established.

The conference discussed ways to evolve and transform the development of broadband infrastructure in the Sultanate and what services a well-established network of high and stable capacity can enable. - TradeArabia News Service
