Du launches 20GB FTTH service for UAE home users

DUBAI, August 16, 2016

Dubai-based telecom provider du has launched its 20GB broadband services over FTTH (fibre to the home) solution for residential subscribers in the UAE.

First to be launched commercially in the Middle East and Africa, this network provides ultra-broadband access for du to expand its service development capabilities for cloud and video services. Customers will benefit from even faster upload and download speeds, and reduce latency in the home network.

Jasim Al Awadi, vice president, Network Infrastructure and Services, du, said: “The introduction of 20GB adds to many of our other firsts and accomplishments on the network front in the UAE, and the region. Our commitment to offering our customers incredible experience journeys on our network is unwavering, and this initiative, jointly deployed with Huawei, will effectively enable us to provide a better customer experience with new services and solutions."

As an integrated service operator, du has undergone vigorous development in recent years. The rapid growth of its data center and video services now challenges its access network. Du has responded by cooperating with Huawei to deploy a 20G broadband network that will handle the increasing data from subscribers.

The ultra-broadband speed will allow du’s fixed subscribers to have a much better experience of high bandwidth services such as 4K TV, Network Gaming, virtual reality and cloud services. In addition, this upgrade has aligned du network with next generation services offering, a statement said. – TradeArabia News Service
