Murray Irvine, senior director of global compute and
networking - Meta region, Dell EMC

Dell EMC announces key Middle East appointment

DUBAI, August 14, 2018

US-based Dell EMC, a part of Dell Technologies, has appointed Murray Irvine as its senior director of global compute and networking for the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa (Meta) region.

Dell EMC enables organisations to modernise, automate and transform their data centre using industry-leading converged infrastructure, servers, storage and data protection technologies.

With over 22 years of extensive experience in the IT industry and 11 years of tenure at EMC, Irvine transitions from his previous role at Dell EMC where he led sales strategy and planning for the same region, said a statement from the company.

He leveraged his expertise to ensure Dell and EMC became one, unified, customer centric entity and retained and grew its market leadership.

Prior to the Dell EMC merger, Irvine was instrumental in driving the company’s aggressive growth strategy and business roadmap across the region as the chief financial officer for EMC across Turkey, Eastern Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, it said.

In his new role, Irvine aims to bolster Dell EMC’s capabilities in three key strategic areas: to help organisations, irrespective of size, drive IT transformation and accelerate their digital transformation journey; to develop regional capabilities and inspire leading talent; and to ensure the Meta region is at the forefront of innovation.

Prior to joining EMC UK and Ireland in 2007, Irvine held various positions at Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) across Europe and CSC in New Zealand and Australia.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, and is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, it said.

Mohammed Amin, senior VP (Meta), Dell EMC, said: “We are proud to announce such a seasoned and well-rounded leader as Irvine to lead our GCN business across this vast and exciting region.”

“His achievements speak for themselves and with his proven track record of leadership and business acumen; we remain confident that this business is helmed by a leader that others can seek inspiration from,” he added.

On the new role, Irvine said: “The Meta region is poised to dramatically accelerate its adoption of disruptive technologies in the coming years. This move towards digital transformation also presents a challenge to organisations, large and small, to keep pace with the dynamic expectations of customers.”

“In my role, I look forward to working with the team at our company to help organisations leverage the era of digitisation and innovation in their own business,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
