Bahrain’s Ministry of Works system wins award

Manama, May 18, 2011

Bahrain’s Ministry of Works recently won best eProject Award in recognition of its Accident Information Management System (AIMS), which aims to provide better services to citizens and stakeholders across all sectors.

Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa presented the award to Minister of Works Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf during the recent opening of Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2011.

Roads Planning and Design Directorate (RPDD) at the Ministry uses the data gathered of accidents collected by General Directorate of Traffic. The data is then used to analyse accident patterns.

The analysis helps RPDD to take major steps in road design, study black spot analysis, study traffic control and safety features and implements various schemes to reduce accidents.

Ministry of Works’ project fulfills all requested criteria; highlighting the use of new technology and innovative ideas to improve services and serve all those who benefit from this particular eService, a statement said. – TradeArabia News Service
