Manama, November 11, 2013

Nearly 1,000 new government projects are in the pipeline or underway in Bahrain, marking an increase of 187 projects for the year 2013-2014, a report said.

A total of 902 projects, from 39 ministries and government institutions, had been registered in the years 2011-2014, with the streamlining of Bahrain's ministries is yielding major results, the Cabinet heard yesterday (November 10), according to a report in the Gulf daily News, our sister publication.

The session chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa also learned that the overall percentage of projects completed increased steadily, reaching 70 per cent in the third quarter of this year.

The report praised the efforts of several ministries and government institutions for the adoption of performance indicators, and called upon all other government sectors to follow suit.

The Cabinet decided to refer the report to the ministerial committee concerned with further review of implementation of the government programme. – TradeArabia News Service
