Top signage show opens in Dubai

Dubai, January 31, 2012

Sign and Graphics Imaging Middle East (SGI 2012), Middle East’s largest sign, graphics and imaging show, opened in Dubai today (January 31), featuring more than 400 exhibitors from 30 countries.

Inaugurated by Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Makhtoum, chairman of the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, the 15th edition of show will be held until February 2 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

International Expo Consults (IEC), a subsidiary of Falak Holding and the main organiser of SGI 2012, expects to attract more than 10000 trade visitors.

SGI is one of the most anticipated events of the year in the region for exhibitors and visitors in the signage, outdoor media, screen and digital printing industries.

Abdul Rahman Falaknaz; chairman of IEC stated that, “Today is a big day for all of us at IEC as we have inaugurated the 15th edition of the show. I would like to thank all our exhibitors and partners who have supported and trusted us throughout this journey.”

“We grew organically and today it has become one of the largest platforms in the Middle East for sign and graphics industry. The show has generated sales amounting to billions of dollars for exhibitors serving the digital printing, signage and outdoor advertising industries in the last decade and a half.'

Sharif Rahman, CEO, IEC, said: "The event showcased an impressive array of the latest product innovations from across the globe that is set to hit the market this year and we are confident that the following two days will see plenty of business being done.”

“The participation that we are seeing from both the exhibitors and trade visitors shows the growth potential of the industry despite challenging market conditions. Furthermore, this edition of the show will be introducing two new components namely the ‘Digital Signage’ and ‘Digital Commerce’ sections," he added.

SGI is an established 14 year old business forum where exhibitors and visitors can interact with sign makers, print and production manufacturers, architects, media agencies, real-estate developers, brand and image consultants among others.
