Design show to debut in Bahrain

Manama, November 24, 2013

Designers will showcase the latest designs in personal, fashion, architecture and interiors at a show to be hosted in Bahrain next month.

Bahrain International Design Week (BIDW) will take place at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre from December 5 to 7 and will commence with pre-event roadshows to be held across capital Manama from December 1 to 4.

BIDW will showcase trends in jewellery and fashion, interior design and graphic design from both established and emerging talents, said a statement.

A highlight of the exhibition will be daily fashion shows, taking place in the exhibit’s exclusively created Design Cube, situated in the personal section. It will also host speakers and delegates to join a dialogue on the role of design today and in the future - identifying new ideas and new directions in the different areas of design.

“Bahrain International Design Week is a platform aiming to consolidate and collaborate with the region’s existing efforts in the field with the vision to leverage these towards global success,” said Sheikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Governor of the Capital Governorate and patron of Designer Bazaar at BIDW.

BIDW facilitates an interactive forum for the design industry, investors and businesses, and the community at large, enabling participants to identify and create new opportunities, collaborate, network and engage each other in discussions about best practices and trends in the design industry.

“In today’s knowledge-based economies, design lies at the core of innovation that promotes growth in sectors and industries.  BIDW will prove itself to be the go-to event that connects the community and businesses in a spirit of collaboration and innovation,” said Ali HamadAbul, managing director of All in One Services, the organiser of the event.

The event will feature a special celebration of the fifth anniversary of the Durrah Magazine, a Bahrain-based premium lifestyle magazine that provides insight into the world of luxury, arts and high fashion.

It will also feature the BIDW Award Ceremony, to recognise and celebrate the achievements of outstanding exhibiting designers and awarding the ‘Best Stall Design.’

Exhibitors and visitors can enjoy the best of international and Middle Eastern cuisine, presented in a food/art approach, located within the heart of the exhibit’s food court in the Services section.

The pre-event roadshow will consist of dialogue on relevant design issues within a high-profile social ambience, covering each of the main design areas of the exhibition and will be held in different locations across the capital. - TradeArabia News Service
