LG and Kfoury step up star search campaign

Well-known Arabic singer Wael Kfoury, the brand ambassador for LG mobile phones, and global digital leader LG Electronics have stepped up their campaign to identify the best music-writing talent in the Arab world, by launching the third phase of their interactive online campaign.

The online effort, titled “Be a Star with LG”, is dedicated to Arab youth, music lovers and stylish brand followers who are keen to display their creativity and innovation. The campaign is being conducted by LG Electronics in partnership with Maktoob.com, the leading online community in the Arab world, and covers the Middle East and Africa regions, said an official spokesman.

The increasing number of social networking websites is attracting more and more Arab youth, thus creating the fastest growing online medium in the region. LG is building on this emerging phenomenon by making this seasonal campaign fun and interactive while stimulating creativity among the Arab youth.

The campaign which started on November 27 will run until March 31, 2009, and is open to all individuals.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for young people across the region to connect and communicate with each other, while demonstrating their talent,” said CEO of LG Electronics Middle East and Africa Regional Company K W Kim.

“The website has been specifically created to attract the youth of the region and the interactive campaign is a great way to bring creative-minded people together.”

The third phase of the campaign includes three categories in which participants can contribute by writing lyrics and uploading them on to the microsite, after which Wael Kfoury will select the best song lyrics and set it to music.

Participants can also develop an interesting video commercial for LG Electronics, similar to the KF510 one that was done by Wael. And last but not least, they can sing a song for the popular music star, alone or with friends, and upload it on to the microsite.

Each competition involves personalised entries, the lyrics competition will be judged by Wael and two top winners in the video commercial and singing competitions will be selected by members of the public.

More than 328,000 visitors had visited the campaign website last year of which 125,000 were direct individual hits on the microsite. The direct link to the competition is http://najmlg.maktoob.com.

Other winners will receive the newest LG handset, the stylish KF510. The slim mobile uses this ALC technology to save up on battery power which allows for more convenient use of the high technology features such as the camera, MP3 player, radio and video player. – TradeArabia News Service
