Dewa energy savings drive big hit
Dubai, September 17, 2009
An energy conservation campaign, organised the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) to coincide with Ramadan, has received an enthusiastic response from a cross-section of consumers.
The month-long drive, titled ‘To Guide is to Care’, was launched in various parts of Dubai, and comprised a series of awareness workshops and seminars complemented by an intensive marketing activity.
The events witnessed the participation of a large number of consumers who were keen to obtain and exchange information on energy conservation measures.
“We strongly believe the best way for individuals to protect the environment is by knowledge sharing, and our campaign significantly facilitated this gesture among Dubai consumers,” said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, managing director and CEO of Dewa.
“The future generation will judge us only by the efficacy of our actions in safeguarding the environment that we bequeath to them. Hence, it is our collective responsibility to preserve our precious natural resources.”
The ‘To Guide is to Care’ campaign included a seminar by Dr Omar Abdelkafy at the DEWA headquarters, while an interactive ‘dialogue’ was organised with approximately 300 individuals at the Al Khawaneej Alriadi. A host of other events included an environmental workshop at the Dibba Fort that saw the participation of over 900 people.
In conjunction with the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) and the Dubai International Holy Quran Award, Dewa also distributed information booklets to individuals at the Al Twar Ramadan Tent. – TradeArabia News Service
