Dubai-based Al Tamimi & Company, one of the premier law firms in the Middle East, has won the Middle East and African Law Firm 2009 award at the British Legal Awards held in London recently.

The awards, organised by Legal Week, the leading UK legal weekly magazine, honour the year’s most prominent law firms and individuals in the UK and international legal market.

The award crowns a highly successful year of international recognition for  Al Tamimi & Company starting in February with a nomination as International Office of the Year by the UK’s Legal Business magazine and followed by Asian Legal Business’s award as Employer of Choice 2009,  then UAE Law Firm of the Year at the Who’s Who Legal Awards and Asian Counsel Firm of the Year from Pacific Business Press, said a company statement.

International Financial Law Review (IFLR) awarded Al Tamimi with the prestigious 'UAE Law Firm of the Year' and 'Best Equity Capital Markets Deal of the Year' for their work on the Damas IPO, and UK business publication Corporate INTL awarded the firm Best M&A Law Firm in Qatar and Best IP and Banking Law Firm in UAE.

The Gulf legal publication 'The Brief' too had honoured the company with 'Gulf Law Firm of the Year' award. Its founder and senior partner, Essam Al Tamimi, was presented with the inaugural 'Gulf Legal Lifetime Achievement' award for his outstanding contribution to the Gulf legal market, the company said.
