MCI expands Abu Dhabi operations

Abu Dhabi, March 26, 2012

Global association management, communications and event agency MCI has expanded its operations in Abu Dhabi.

The agency has had a presence in the market for the last four years; and this year decided to grow its office and presence in the Emirate.

MCI currently offers meeting, event and professional congress organisation in the market. With the expansion, the agency will extend its offering to clients, adding expertise in destination management services and association management & consulting, said a statement.

Sumaira Isaacs, regional managing director, MCI Middle East, India and Canada, said: “MCI has been growing steadily over the last few years. Our Middle East strategy is to have local presence in various strategic markets, like Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Abu Dhabi was our first Middle East branch office. Our growth in there has been steady.”

“Last year we locked in 2,000 rooms and handled over 2,500 delegates in the city. This year we see the number double both in terms of delegates and room nights. Additionally, we have won some key mandates and are seeing a steady pipeline of local business opportunities in Abu Dhabi,” he said.

“Our commitment in Abu Dhabi has always been there, now we are in good position to strengthen it and offer our complete suite of services which include professional congress organisation, meetings and events strategies, destination management services through our Ovation Arabia brand and association management and consulting,” Isaacs added.

MCI has announced that it has appointed Kylee Haines as the new head of business development in Abu Dhabi. She will be supported by an operations team who manages business there.

“In the next couple of weeks we will announce our new addresses and welcome travelers to our new offices,” said Haines, director business development, Abu Dhabi. – TradeArabia News Service
