Diaz Reus to set up office in Iraq

Miami, May 30, 2012

Global law firm Diaz Reus and Targ announced the opening of its offices in Iraq, further expanding its presence in the Middle East and reinforcing its long term commitment to the region.

Michael Diaz Junior, managing partner, Diaz Reus, said: “As the first major international US law firm to enter post-war Iraq, our new offices provide us with a significant presence in this increasingly important emerging market.”

“This is the natural and logical next step for our firm, which already has presence in the Dubai International Financial Centre. These new offices will enable the firm to further provide full service support to its clients and their business needs in the Middle East region,” he said.

The Miami-based firm has established a strategic alliance with the New Iraq Company for Legal Consultancy and Newton & Partners, an emerging markets law firm that already enjoys a broad presence in the Middle East.

Aziz Jaff, senior partner, New Iraq Company, said: “We look forward to working with the Diaz Reus law firm in the greater Iraq and Kurdistan regions, advising foreign companies regarding their investment strategy and associated corporate and regulatory aspects.”

As a key player in Iraq’s legal market, New Iraq Company, in association with Diaz Reus and Newton & Partners, will focus on project finance, direct investment, mergers and acquisitions, corporate and business transactions, regulatory compliance and international arbitration, a statement from the firm said.

Leo Bouma, senior partner, Newton & Partners, said: “The Middle East is becoming increasingly important to each of our firm’s worldwide client base, which ranges from North and South America to greater Asia, China, India, and Europe. It’s clear that emerging markets will be driving global economic growth for the next decade.” – TradeArabia News Service
