Emirates ID website attracts over 2m visits

Abu Dhabi, July 9, 2014

The Emirates Identity Authority’s website has attracted more than two million visits during the first half of the year, similar to the figures for the same period last year.

The website also recorded about five million browsing movements during the period, said a statement.

The new visits to the site stood 35 per cent during the first half, which was about 700,000 visits. The Emirates ID gave a comprehensive facelift to the website in accordance with the best international practices in terms of both content and appearance last year, it said.

Abdullah Al Kendi, director of IT at Emirates ID, said the massive visitor turn out at the website was reflective of its importance as a vital link between the authority and its customers on the one hand and the popular acceptance of the online services the authority provided to the public.

“The customers and their satisfaction figure on top of our priority list in everything we do. The huge number of visitors to the website also indicates the preeminent position the Emirates ID enjoys in smart government initiatives in the country and beyond,” Al Kendi said.

The site provides all relevant knowledge and information not only about the Emirates ID’s function but also about identity management and smart governance across the globe.

It also provides a number of services for both individuals and organisations, including online ID card applications and application and delivery status enquiry about the cards.

It is the first government body in the UAE to employ the ‘responsive design’ technique in website design. According to a report from the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority, the website has fulfilled 99.41 per cent of all the requirements for a government website as per the standards of the guidelines issued for federal government bodies. - TradeArabia News Service
