Bahrain donates $5m for Palestinians in Gaza

His Majesty King Hamad of Bahrain has donated $5 million to support besieged Palestinians in Gaza.
 
He directed humanitarian aid to be urgently dispatched to them, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
 
His Majesty instructed the Royal Charity Organisation, led by board of trustees' chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, to supervise the lifeline as part of efforts to alleviate the suffering of distressed Palestinians.
 
A Bahrain Committee for Solidarity with Palestinian People in Gaza Strip has been established to muster all efforts and dispatch relief materials urgently.
 
Chaired by Royal Charity Organisation (RCO) secretary-general Dr Mustafa Al Sayed, the panel will feature charity associations, civil societies and ministries.
 
Shaikh Nasser thanked His Majesty, also RCO honorary president, for reaching out to needy people and disaster-stricken victims.
 
The co-ordination committee held its first meeting yesterday and discussed initiatives to dispatch the aid.
 
Later, Dr Al Sayed stressed the vital role of Bahrain Health Centre in Gaza.
 
His Majesty received a letter from Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on the political crisis in Gaza. He highlighted the plight of Palestinians who are facing Israeli air strikes and shelling which led to the death of more than 200 people and injured more than 1,000. - TradeArabia News Service
