GM names new president, MD for Mideast
Dubai, October 28, 2013
General Motors has announced the appointment of Maurice Williams as president and managing director of its Middle East Operations, effective November 1.
Williams will succeed John Stadwick, who has been appointed vice president of Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing for GM China and Shanghai GM.
Based in Dubai, Williams is currently regional sales director for Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Oman, a position he assumed in May. He is responsible for sales, marketing and dealer network activities in addition to market and product portfolio development, advertising promotions, incentives and vehicle distribution across the three Gulf states.
He began his GM career in 1984 as a district manager in Training for the Pontiac Division in the Los Angeles Zone office and went on to hold several positions of increasing responsibility in field sales, service, marketing, dealer networking, and parts and service operations across the United States.
Williams replaces Stadwick who has been with GM since 1984. Stadwick has held key local and regional posts in sales, marketing and aftersales at GM operations in North America, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East, and Asia Pacific. Before becoming head of GM Middle East Operations in March 2010, he was Vice President of Aftersales for GM International Operations.
“During his time in the Middle East, John strengthened GM’s position across the region despite the challenging political and economic landscape. The Middle East is a key market for GM, and I am confident in Maurice’s ability to continue driving the business forward,” said Stefan Jacoby, GM executive vice president, Consolidated International Operations.
“This is a very exciting time for GM in the Middle East. I look forward to the challenge of leading the company and ensuring we are successful in achieving all our business goals going forward,” said Williams. – TradeArabia News Service
