Goodyear RT-5D tyres

Goodyear supplies OTR tyres to Volvo

DUBAI, December 8, 2014

Goodyear’s latest off-the-road (OTR) tyres RT-5D have been supplied to Volvo for original equipment fitment on a wheel loader for use in an Italian marble quarry.

The 875/65R33 tyres have been fitted to a Volvo L350F, which is currently the largest wheel loader available from the manufacturer with an operating weight of up to 56 tonnes and engine power of 397 kW (540 hp), said a statement.

The operator is IN.GR.A SRL, an Italian company specialising in the extraction of marble. The pit quarry has a large underground tunnel and one of the most beautiful and prestigious white Carrara marble is mined there, it said.

Stefano Sanchini, commercial sales director, Middle East and Africa, said: “We are delighted that the new Goodyear RT-5D tyres have been selected for use on this machine.

“The new RT-5D in size 29.5R25 gives 25% more carrying capacity compared to the RT-5C which was offered till the launch of the RT-5C as well as greater comfort and more powerful traction.  These tyres help our customers to reduce their Total Cost of Ownership by reducing costs. In addition they provide the driver an enhanced working environment.”

The RT-5D is a level 250 (L5) traction OTR tyre for severe conditions such as in quarries, difficult industrial applications and recycling as well as in open and underground mines.

The tyre features hi-stability Carcass Technology, which combines reinforcements in the bead area, on the carcass breakers and at the ply turn-up.  Enhanced productivity performance, greater protection for the sidewalls in aggressive environments and minimized deflection are some of the benefits the tyre offers. - TradeArabia News Service
