DuPont to present 'greener' solutions
Abu Dhabi, May 5, 2011
DuPont, one of the leading science-powered companies, is urging the Middle East region’s downstream businesses to accelerate the adoption of more eco-friendly practices across their operations.
DuPont notes that most of the downstream players have been re-evaluating their strategies in light of the continuing global recession of the past two years and addressing concerns over the long-term effects of carbon dioxide emissions in major oil-producing territories, said a company statement.
Environmental and other vital dimensions of downstream activities will be addressed during Middle East Downstream Week 2011, a premier event taking place from May 8 to 11, 2011 in Abu Dhabi.
DuPont has been invited to join over 250 industry leaders and decisions-makers from the refining, petrochemicals and fuels sectors to discuss greener downstream approaches during the event. DuPont’s Andy Tyas, regional engineering manager, Clean Fuels Technologies, will participate in the event as a key panel member.
“Local government is strongly promoting downstream businesses which provide immense employment potentials to its young and rapidly growing population. Although the sector is booming, industry players must not lose sight of goals such as energy efficiency and sustainability which have become major issues in the Middle East. The downstream sector must ensure that its plans align with the environmental and economic visions of the region,” said Anil Menon, country manager - UAE -business development manager – DuPont Clean Technologies.
Middle East Downstream Week 2011 conferences will be held under the theme ‘Bridging the Gap between Strategy and Technology.’ DuPont will highlight its pioneering clean fuel technologies during the conference panel sessions.
DuPont offers a host of products and services to the Oil and Gas sector, ranging from performance materials to safety consultancy. Many standard practices for coating pipes with epoxy were derived from DuPont technologies, with the science company currently delivering the most extensive range of new innovative coating technologies for oil and gas extraction.
One of DuPont’s green solutions for the downstream sector is STRATCO Alkylation Technology which produces a gasoline component with negligible benzene, aromatics and sulphur. The company also offers IsoTherming Hydroprocessing Technology, a novel configuration which improves on conventional hydroprocessing by reducing capital and operating costs.
Antifouling and cleaning solutions are part of DuPont’s downstream suite as well. Its StreaMax coating system provides flow assurance and corrosion protection in extreme environments at a wide temperature range, while DuPont Glycolic Acid is used for descaling of pipelines. DuPont Teflon, a globally popular household brand, is used to provide non-stick and anticorrosion benefits to downstream operations.
Other downstream DuPont solutions cover abrasion and wear resistance, chemical and temperature resistance, emissions control, high performance materials, water treatment, waterless fire protection, sulphuric acid services, scaling, refining and upgrading, safety and consulting, environmental and energy consulting, and metal alternatives. – TradeArabia News Service
