Expo 2020 to drive UAE power rental market

DUBAI, September 16, 2015

The increasing energy demand and surging infrastructure owing to the upcoming World Expo 2020 in Dubai, UAE will drive the power rental market in the country to grow at a CAGR of 16.8 per cent during 2015-21, a report said.

In UAE’s power rental market, diesel genset rental market captured major share of pie in overall power rental business due to ease of availability of these gensets on rent, explained the report “UAE Power Rental Market (2015-2021)” by 6Wresearch, a global market research and consulting firm specializes in niche and emerging markets.

With decline of oil prices in the international market, impact on power rental market can be predicted for the next one year in UAE. In the forecast period, share of non-diesel genset rental market is expected to increase due to adoption of cleaner technologies, especially natural gas based gensets.

Northern region is leading revenue contributing region in UAE’s power rental market. The growth of power rental market in this region is primarily dependent on cities such as Dubai, Sharjah, Umm al-Quwain, Dibba, and Fujairah. Dubai and Sharjah are the major cities where highest penetration of gensets on rent is witnessed. Increasing investments, construction of new hotels, malls and expansion of transportation infrastructure are fueling power rental market in Northern region.

For the construction of the airport $32 billion are expected to be invested for the next 5 years, thus providing significant boost to power rental business.

In UAE, gensets with rating 100.1KVA-350KVA and 350.1KVA-750KVA leads due to their extensive usage across various applications.
