Crowning glory

, November 28, 2013

Celebrating the success of Dubai’s bid to host the World Expo 2020, Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, raises the UAE national flag at the top of the spire of Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building.

Burj Khalifa is 828 metres (2,716.5 ft) tall. Sheikh Hamdan scaled the spire, took position on its outer core before unfolding the national flag. The telescopic spire is over 200 metres (700 ft) high, and is an integral part of the tower’s overall design.
