The Dubai Export Development Corporation (DEDC) has said that its successful first participation at the JCK New Delhi 2008 jewellery exhibition, has opened trade opportunities to promote the Dubai jewellery industry to the highly lucrative Indian market.

Leading UAE jewellery businesses including Emballage Trading, International Diamond Laboratories, and Deepu Jewellers exhibited their products at the New Delhi event, which attracted 209 prominent exhibitors.

The UAE businesses were supported by the DEDC, an autonomous organisation under the directive of the Government of Dubai.

"As an official export agency of Dubai government our role is to support Dubai-based Jewellery business and manufacturers to develop and diversify their overseas operations," said Saed Al Awadi, chief executive officer, DEDC.

"Our participation at JCK New Delhi 2008 has demonstrated the significance of the Dubai jewellery industry on the world stage and increased the awareness of Dubai and its export capabilities across the Indian market," he said.

The exhibition registered over 7000 attendees over four days.

DEDC also hosted the first Dubai Pavilion business lounge, which provided Dubai exhibitors and visitors a place to network and expand their business opportunities in a relaxed setting.

DEDC also organised an exclusive Power Breakfast for high-powered and serious business networking between Dubai Exhibitors and the key Indian retailers and industry influencers.

The sessions resulted in several partnering avenues and business opportunities between Dubai and Indian companies.

Additionally, exhibitors at the Dubai Pavilion generated substantial business opportunities which will materialise in the upcoming months. - TradeArabia News Service
