The Gold & Jewellery Mega Raffle, region’s biggest gold promotion being held as part of the 20th edition of Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF), has been extended until February 5 following an overwhelming response from the shoppers.

The Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group said it is the biggest-ever gold and jewellery promotion offering shoppers a chance to win up to Dh15 million ($4.08 million) in prizes including 100kg of gold and 40 carats of diamond on spending Dh500 ($136) at any of the participating outlets during DSF.

The promotion was to end yesterday (February 1) but due to the huge response and high level of interest among DSF shoppers the DGJG decided to extend the raffle by four more days, culminating with the promotion’s Mega Draw Raffle draw on February 5.

Under the raffle scheme, shoppers get a chance to win 40 kg of gold, including one first prize of 20-kg gold, a second prize of 10-kg gold and two third prizes of 5-kg gold.

A 5-carat diamond prize and three diamond prizes of 1 carat each are also up for grabs. These prizes are in addition to the daily 1kg gold and 1 carat diamond and weekly prize of 5-kg gold that the raffle has been giving away since the beginning of DSF on January 1.

On the extension, Tawhid Abdullah, the chairman of DGJG, said: "We are as excited as the enthusiastic jewellery shoppers who are looking forward to winning a whopping 40kg of gold and 8 carat solitaire diamonds in the mega raffle draws. This is truly a once-in -a- lifetime opportunity."

Under the scheme, shoppers who make gold purchases of Dh500 or more will be entitled to one raffle coupon and those spending Dh500 or more on diamond jewellery will receive two raffle coupons.

Further, upon every Dh500 spent on the ‘Dubai Celebration Chain’, the shoppers will be entitled to two raffle coupons and can therefore double their chances of winning, stated Abdulla.

Meanwhile, the sales figures at leading jewellery outlets in Dubai have been shining brighter than ever with retailers recording a significant upswing in gold and jewellery purchases during DSF 2015 compared to the same period last year, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
